The MOT test is the official government test to show that your vehicle is roadworthy. You will need a valid MOT in order to tax your car and if your MOT expires then it will actually invalidate your insurance.

The MOT is a visual inspection of the steering, suspension and vehicle structure. We have a state of the art digital brake tester which gives TBC.

Emissions are tested for the levels of CO and Hydrocarbons to make sure they fall within the guideline levels and the fuel mix/oxygen levels are also checked, otherwise known as LAMBDA.

Lights, seatbelts, windscreen wipers, washers, horn, tow bars, towbar/trailer sockets, mirrors, windscreen (front and rear), seats, electronic systems (e.g. ABS, TPMS, Airbags) are also checked over.

The MOT costs £54.85 which is the standard fee set by the government.

An MOT here at Crooklands Mill Garage nr Milnthorpe will usually take in the region of 1 hour to carry out and paperwork will be completed for you, whether it is a certificate or an advisory note giving details of the reasons for failure.
